To All Employees: —– (Supervisor for those employees who do not have access to email please distribute this notice and post in the break rooms).
We care about you, our employees and your families. Our commitment to you to be proactive in preventative measures for your well-being and to send out update communications as appropriate. In that effort, we wanted to communicate Haynes/The Dump is taking measures to ensure the safety of our employees during this coronavirus outbreak, including:
Health Care: Our selected provider Anthem is eliminating the burden of additional costs for members in its affiliated health plans by providing coverage of the coronavirus screening test. Anthem is waiving copays, coinsurance, deductibles and prior authorization. Simply stated no out-of-pocket cost for those who are insured through the company. We are attempting to negotiate other options for our non-insured employees.
Sick Leave: Employees testing positive for the COVID-19 (coronavirus) will not be permitted to work on site. In advance of any government action we are providing special paid sick leave for a confirmed diagnosis. Please contact HR [757 552-1500] prior to the leave to determine your eligibility and pay status. You will be required to provide a release for return to work should a paid leave be necessary. Attached is a copy of the temporary pay practice.
Business Travel: No business travel should occur unless with the express permission of the CEO or CFO (including trips that were previously approved) until further notice.
Temporary Telecommuting Arrangements: Haynes/The Dump will evaluate on a case-by-case temporary telecommuting arrangements for high risk employees whose job duties are conducive to working from home. However, most positions at Haynes/The Dump require the employee to be physically present in the workplace. If you have a compromised immune system or have specific concerns about your personal health situation, please contact Human Resources for assistance.
All of the above practices are subject to change.
As a reminder the Center for Disease Control (CDC) continues to recommend the steps below to prevent sickness. We recommend our employees do the same:
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, use 60% alcohol-based sanitizer.
Other Health Tips –
Each morning take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stiffness or tightness, that may suggest no infection in the lungs. Ensure your mouth and throat are moist. Take frequent sips of water. It has been suggested that even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach. Stomach acid kills viruses. This is not meant as medical advice. As always seek professional medical attention if you have health concerns.
If you are ill stay home. If you experience symptoms of respiratory illness (fever, coughing or shortness of breath), please inform Human Resources (HR) at [757 552-1500] and contact your health care provider. Haynes/The Dump will keep all medical information confidential and will only disclose it on a need-to-know basis. Again, if you have any other questions or concerns you want to discuss/report please contact Human Resources.
Take care of yourselves and each other.
